Privacy Policy

Fadepin is designed to keep your data on your device. We don't have a server. We don't have an account system. We don't collect, store, or transmit your personal information.

This policy explains what that means in practice.

What Data Fadepin Collects

None.

Fadepin does not collect any personal information from you. We do not require an account, sign-up, email address, phone number, or any other identifying information. We do not use analytics services, telemetry, or crash reporting tools.

When you use Fadepin, the app does not transmit any data about you, your device, or your activity to us or to anyone else.

What Data Fadepin Stores

Fadepin stores the location pins you create on your device only. This includes:

Pin coordinates (latitude and longitude)
Pin name (if you add one)
Pin emoji category (if you select one)
Pin notes (if you add any)
Pin creation time and expiration time
Whether the pin is in the "fading" or "kept" state
Optional per-pin reminder and navigation preferences

This data never leaves your device. It is stored in your phone's local app data using Apple's SwiftData framework. It is included in standard iOS device backups (iCloud or local) at your discretion, which are encrypted by Apple.

How Your Data Is Used

Your pins are used only to display location markers within the Fadepin app and its widgets, to send you proximity reminders when you return to a pin (if you've enabled that feature), and to share specific pins via map links when you explicitly tap Share.

We do not use your data for analytics, advertising, recommendations, profiling, or any other purpose.

Location Services

Fadepin requests permission to access your location so it can mark where you are when you drop a pin and send you a reminder when you return to a pin's location.

Location access uses Apple's standard system permission flow
You control whether to grant access, and at what level (When-In-Use or Always)
Always access is only requested if you enable a feature that requires background geofencing
Your location is used to create pins and trigger reminders on your device only — it is never transmitted to us or to any third party

You can revoke location access at any time in your device's Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services.

Third-Party Services

Fadepin integrates with the following third-party services. None of these integrations send your Fadepin data to us.

Apple Maps and Google Maps. When you tap Navigate or Share on a pin, Fadepin can hand off the pin's coordinates to Apple Maps or Google Maps to display directions or save the location. What you do in those apps is governed by their privacy policies, not ours.

Apple StoreKit. Fadepin+ subscriptions are processed through Apple's StoreKit system. Apple handles all payment information and subscription management. Fadepin does not receive your payment details. Your subscription status is verified through Apple's signed transaction system.

iOS System Services. Fadepin uses standard iOS frameworks for location services, notifications, widgets, Spotlight search, Siri Shortcuts, and home screen integration. These are part of your operating system and are governed by Apple's privacy practices.

Sharing Pins

When you tap Share on a pin, you choose where to send it. Fadepin generates a map link containing the pin's coordinates and (if included) name. The recipient receives this link through whatever service you used to share it (Messages, email, etc.).

The link contains only the location data you chose to share. It does not contain any other Fadepin data, your device information, or anything that would identify you beyond what's normally included by the sharing service itself.

Children's Privacy

Fadepin is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. If you are under 13, please do not provide any personal information through Fadepin's sharing features.

Data Retention and Deletion

You control your data:

Delete a single pin: open the pin and tap Delete, or swipe to delete in Pin Management
Delete all pins: Settings → Clear All Pins
Delete all data: uninstall the Fadepin app from your device

Pins also delete themselves when their fade timer expires (unless you've kept them).

When you delete the app, all pin data stored on your device is removed. Because we don't have a server, there is no data on our end to delete — there is no copy of your information anywhere except on your device.

Subscriptions

Fadepin+ is a $7.99/year auto-renewable subscription. The free tier of Fadepin is fully functional; the subscription unlocks visual customization (custom accent colors, additional emoji) and unlimited kept pins.

Subscription details:

Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase
The subscription automatically renews unless turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
You can manage and cancel your subscription in your iPhone's Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions
Any unused portion of a free trial period is forfeited if you purchase a subscription during the trial

Apple processes all payments. Fadepin does not receive your payment information.

Changes To This Policy

If we update this privacy policy, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If we make changes that materially affect your privacy, we'll do our best to highlight those changes within the app or via direct communication.

Because Fadepin doesn't have an account system, we can't email you about updates. Check this page periodically if you want to stay current.
